Modular Photonics’ OMPlex retrofit technology enables existing legacy multi-mode (OM1-4, 50 and 62.5 micron) fibre to be operated like a single-mode fibre when using single-mode transceivers.
This retrofit technology therefore avoids the need for dangerous and expensive recabling within the mining sector. The technology allows for upgrades of 10G, 40G or beyond over links as long as 2 km.
