Modular Photonics’ OMPlex retrofit technology enables existing legacy multi-mode (OM1-4, 50 and 62.5 micron) fibre to be operated like a single-mode fibre when using single-mode transceivers.
This retrofit technology therefore avoids the need for recabling, avoiding expensive service interruptions or building works. The technology can be applied in various multi-building campuses such as Schools, Universities, Technology Parks and Hospitals. The technology allows for upgrades of 10G, 40G and beyond over links as long as 2 km.
The technology can improve connectivity in hub and spoke style networks used in many business campuses with cost savings and minimal disruption to operations during the upgrade.
